About the HVA
Hagerty Insurance launched a program called Hagerty Plus in 2002. Their mission was to serve the historic vehicle community by protecting the rights of historic vehicle owners and supporting the continuation of the activities and lifestyle surrounding historic vehicle ownership.
In order to serve the entire historic vehicle community and leverage the resources of like-minded groups around the globe, Hagerty chose to separate these benevolent initiatives from its core business and reorganize these support programs as the Historic Vehicle Association (HVA). The HVA was ratified by the international body Fédération Internationale des Véhicules Anciens (FIVA), October 2009. FIVA was established in 1966 and until the formation of the HVA in 2009 there was no representation in North America. FIVA’s mission is to keep Yesterday’s Vehicles on Tomorrow’s Roads.
Representing more than 350,000 members in the United States and Canada, the Historic Vehicle Association (HVA) is the world’s largest classic vehicle owners’ organization. The HVA is committed to celebrating and advancing our automotive heritage and its place in American culture.
For its designated charity, the HVA has selected the Collectors Foundation (www.collectorsfoundation.org), a non-profit 501(c)3. The Collectors Foundation provides grants and scholarships to vehicle and classic boat clubs and museums, accredited colleges with special automotive or boat programs.
